About

I have lived this industry, from fibre to fashion.

I am Satyanarayana Sheshagiri, a fashion entrepreneur, textile and apparel industry leader, author and mentor. For more than three decades I have worked across textiles, garments, manufacturing, entrepreneurship and the business of fashion.

My journey began with textiles: fibres, yarns, fabrics, processing and manufacturing. That technical foundation gave me the language of the craft, and I have been building on it ever since.

Over time it expanded into garments, apparel, entrepreneurship, fashion business and brand building. For more than thirty years I have experienced this industry from every side: as a professional, an entrepreneur, a business builder, an author and a mentor. I have seen products created, businesses built, entrepreneurs succeed, and expensive mistakes made.

Those experiences shaped a simple belief: experience becomes more valuable when it is converted into knowledge, and knowledge becomes more powerful when it is shared. Today, much of my work is focused on doing exactly that.

The journey

More than 30 years. Many chapters. One continuous journey.

My journey began with textile education and grew through industry experience, entrepreneurship, garment manufacturing, mentorship and authorship.

  1. Foundation

    Textile Education

Building the technical foundation for understanding the textile industry: fibres, yarns, fabrics and the grammar of a craft I have built on ever since.

  2. Industry

    Learning From the Inside

Experiencing textiles, materials, processes and manufacturing first-hand, and the everyday realities of the industry that no classroom teaches.

  3. Entrepreneurship

    Building Businesses

Moving from professional experience into entrepreneurship and enterprise building. That meant taking responsibility for people, product and production.

  4. Apparel & Fashion

    From Textiles to Fashion

Expanding the journey across garments, apparel, fashion business and brands: from making cloth to building things people choose to wear.

  5. Mentorship

    Sharing Experience

Helping aspiring entrepreneurs understand the practical realities of building businesses. This is the guidance that now defines much of my work.

  6. Authorship

    Fashionpreneur DNA

Converting decades of experience and lessons into Fashionpreneur DNA, a book for aspiring fashion entrepreneurs starting out.

  7. Today

Before the Applause: Building Knowledge That Outlives Experience

Writing, mentoring, education, thought leadership and building businesses, all contributing to the next generation of fashion entrepreneurs.

Philosophy

Leadership is teaching, done in public.

I have always believed the best leaders are the ones who make the people around them better. On the floor, in a business, and now in mentoring, my job is the same: remove the confusion, set a standard, and let people rise to it.

The craft is only half the story. The other half is where the industry is going.

The road ahead

A more confident, better-made fashion industry.

I want to see more founders who understand their product as deeply as their marketing, who can talk to a mill and a customer with the same fluency. That is the industry I am trying to help build, one entrepreneur at a time.

And building it means investing in the people who will carry it forward.

Why I mentor

I have already built. Now I help others build.

I have built businesses across textiles, garments and fashion. What matters to me now is helping the next generation build theirs, with fewer wrong turns and far more clarity than I had when I started.

Milestones along the journey

An Honorary Doctorate in Business Management, and recognition as the author of Fashionpreneur DNA and Before the Applause.

Only verified milestones appear here. Recognition has never been the point of the work. But it reflects a career spent doing the work, not talking about it. A fuller record will grow in this space over time.

The next step

If you are ready to build, this is where it begins.

If you have an idea and the will to build it, start by understanding the journey. And if you would rather begin with the maps I have already drawn, my books are a good place to start.
